An agency endowment fund is a long term plan to provide operating support for the organization. An agency endowment fund may be established by a charitable organization or an individual donor who believes strongly in a specific charity's work.
An Agency Endowment Fund through your local community foundation makes it easy and efficient to create and manage a permanent endowment for your organization. You build the fund. We take care of the rest.
Organizations with registered charitable status can choose to establish a fund with the Lethbridge Community Foundation in order to benefit from the Community Foundation's professional investment management and to ensure long-term financial stability of the charity.
Charity Endowment Funds for organizations fulfill the crucial role of assisting charitable organizations to accumulate endowments that can then generate operating funds and provide a sense of continuance and security. Donors are assured that their gifts will be held in perpetuity, while the annual distributions provide on-going support to the charities.

The fund provides them with an additional source of annual income, which is added to sums raised annually through other means such as fund-raising campaigns. Donors may contribute to such funds through the Lethbridge Community Foundation or by contacting the organization directly.
Many choose to invest these funds with the Lethbridge Community Foundation to encourage additional endowed gifts and take advantage of the endowment expertise and low administration costs available. This fund must have a $10,000 balance for grants to be made, but this can be established over time after an initial $1000 donationation.
Agency Funds are similar to Designated Funds in that the income from the endowment flows back to the donor organization to use for its own charitable purposes. No applications are accepted from other charitable organizations.
