Donor Advised Endowment Funds

With a donor advised fund you can have ongoing involvement in the use of your gift. You work with the foundation staff to identify ways to use dollars from your Donor Advised Fund to address the issues and needs you care about most. Your recommendations are submitted to our board for approval; we then distribute grant dollars.

Some donors wish to take a very active role in selecting the charities to be supported each year. Some may wish to encourage their children's and/or grandchildren's philanthropic growth by having them take part in annual selections of charities and programs to be supported by their fund. Siblings and other family members may be inspired to work together to identify shared charitable interests to support each year, perhaps in honour or memory of a loved one.

A donor-advised fund is considered the most effective alternative to the creation of a private foundation.  A Donor Advised Fund offers much of the flexibility of a private foundation, with less cost and administrative work for the donor. In addition, foundation staff are available to assist with granting decisions, providing important local expertise now and in the future.

Donor advised funds grants are awarded at the discretion of the donor, and applications are not expected for these funds.
