2010 Grant Celebration
February 24, 2010

The Lethbridge Community Foundation celebrated its 2009 Community Impact Grant awards by handing out over $156,000 to 42 southwestern Alberta community organizations on Tuesday, February, 9, 2010 at the Gem of the West Museum in Coaldale.

"We are very pleased to be able to support so many hard-working organizations in southwestern Alberta," said President Phyllis Hutchinson. "There are many charitable groups doing wonderful work and the Lethbridge Community Foundation would like to commend them and their volunteers."

The event also recognized the $25,000 contribution of the Alberta Government to the grant total through the Community Spirit Program.

"The Lethbridge Community Foundation operates in the areas encompassing north to Nanton, south to the US border, west to Crowsnest Pass, and east to Grassy Lake," said George Hall, Executive Director. "We are pleased to work with organizations and families in these communities in establishing ongoing funds, and then being able to reinvest money back into them."

The Community Impact Grant announcement was held at the Gem of the West Museum, one of the grant recipients receiving support to improve the museum's stage lighting. The Community Impact Grants program impacts four major areas of community support: Arts & Culture, Environmental Conservation & Recreation, Health & Wellness, and Human & Social Services.

The media is invited to contact the Foundation for information on individual grants to organizations, or to gain further information on the mission and activities of the Lethbridge Community Foundation.
