Volunteers from across southwestern Alberta serve on the Community Foundation Board of Directors. These community leaders are committed to building southwestern Alberta's future. Well informed and connected to our community, they set our direction and policies, and oversee the investment and use of all funds.
Corrine Klassen
Corrine Klassen was born and raised in southern Alberta, and has been a member of the Coaldale community for the past 36 years. Corrine has a passion for giving back to her community and is enthusiastic about the work of the Foundation. Corrine has volunteered and raised funds for such causes as cancer, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis. Corrine has been a Certified Financial Planner since 2003 and the Foundation will benefit from her experience as a financial advisor. Corrine's strong commitment to service and community knowledge will be a valuable asset to the Foundation.
Gwen Van Raalte
After attending a Friend's of the Foundation Dinner a number of years ago, Gwen Van Raalte became keenly aware of the positive community impact the Foundation. Gwen is committed to giving back to the community that has served her so well while raising a family. Gwen enjoys leadership roles in her professional life and is now the Manager of Financial Service at TD Canada Trust. Gwen has contributed to the community through such involvement as membership in Kinettes, canvassing for Diabetes and Cancer associations, and United Way fundraising. Gwen also organizes and participates in the grassroots conservation program TD Great Canadian Shoreline Clean Up. Gwen will bring a strong financial background and community involvement to the Foundation.
Marianne Gray
Marianne Gray is an chartered accountant with Murray Chev Olds. She joined the Foundation Board in 2006 and serves on the Finance Committee and the Endowment Development Committee.
Dennis Hatt
Dennis Hatt and his family have lived in Southern Alberta since 1958. Dennis strongly believes in this community and in volunteering to strengthen community vitality. Dennis will bring many years of board experience to the Foundation. He has served on the Executive and Board of Directors of the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce for the past 5 years; as past President of the Kiwanis Club of Lethbridge; and as a Trustee of the Kiwanis Music Festival.
Wayne Street
Wayne Street joined the board in 2007, and is familiar with the impact of the foundation on youth through grants received at schools for playgrounds and reading programs. Wayne brings a wealth of administrative experience to the Board through a career in school administration in southwestern Alberta. Wayne resides in Coaldale and has been active in a number of capacities including Chair of the Town of Coaldale's Community Facilities Program, Parks and Trails Committee, and a number of church positions.
Barb Cavers
Barb Cavers retired from employment with District 51 School Division and currently works as a consultant. She joined the Foundation Board in 2005 and is a chair of the Grant Distribution Committee.
Secretary/Treasurer (Lethbridge)
George Hall
George Hall was appointed to the position of Executive Director by the Board of Directors in fall of 2006. George brings a background of community involvement, library development and fund development to the position. He has lived in Lethbridge since 1989.
Larry Helland
As a Rancher & Feedlot Operator living in the Lomond area, Larry has a record of extensive community involvement [including service with the Lions Club, Minor Hockey, Recreation Board & Lomond Grazing Association among other committee works] and brings business as well as service experience to the foundation. Larry was the Chairman of the Alberta Commission for two years and has served as a director on provincial boards which included Canadian Cattleman's Association, Alberta Agriculture & Food Council. Currently, Larry is a member of Alberta Agriculture Research Institute, Chairman of Canada Alberta Beef Industry Development Fund & a Director of Canada Alberta Livestock Research Trust.
Dianne King
Dianne is a certified board governance instructor with strengths in policy development, strategic planning and the development of committee terms of reference. The Community Foundation's Grant Distribution Committee has benefited from Dianne's assistance for three years. She is enthusiastic about building and sustaining vital communities and looks forward to assisting the board of directors meet the challenges of finding new ways of strengthening organizations and communities within the region.
Vice-President (Lethbridge)
Murray Pritchard
Mr. Murray Pritchard was born and raised in southern Alberta and, with his wife, is raising 4 daughters. Murray will bring extensive legal expertise to the board, with a practice focusing on wills and estate, real estate, corporate, commercial and agricultural legal matters. His professional life has seen Murray serve as chair and director of associations including the Canadian and Lethbridge Bar Associations and chair of the Estate Planning Association. Murray's public service and community activities include serving on the board of directors of a number of local and regional outdoor sporting groups as well as serving as past president of the Kinsmen Club of Lethbridge.
Reta Berte
Reta Berte is a retired nurse, with 40 years in the health field at a patients bedside and in administration. In her administration role Reta has worked throughout southwestern Alberta. Reta is a long time resident of the Lethbridge area raising her family in the area. She has served on the Chinook Health Regional Authority, Parents as Teachers, Parent Links, Southern Alberta Child and Youth Network and the Chinook County Student Health Imitative.
Jason Comin
Jason Comin is a chartered accountant from the Cardston area. He has both profit and not-for-profit board experience and is a member of the Rotary Club of Cardston, as well as the Treasurer for the Cardston and District Chamber of Commerce. Jason joined the Board in 2010.
Kevin Keith
Kevin Keith is a partner with KPMG LLP Chartered Accountants in Lethbridge bringing a wealth of knowledge to the Board. Kevin is interested in using his time and talents to assist the foundation and the area it serves. He has also served on the University of Lethbridge Board of Governors, United Way of Lethbridge Board, University of Lethbridge Senate Executive. Kevin is married with two adult children.
Birthe Perry
Birthe Perry lives in Coaldale and, along with her husband and two sons, owns and operates Perry Produce Ltd., a progressive farming operation in the Chin and Grassy Lake areas. Birthe is a longtime volunteer in the planning and execution of sports, art, and science event in Southern Alberta. Some of the events she has assisted with are the Calgary Olympic Winter Games, Alberta Games, multiple art festivals, the Lethbridge Regional Science Fair, and the Waterton International Film Festival. Birthe joined the Board in January 2012.
Cliff Elle
